About a dozen Google employees decided to resign in protest against the Pentagon's cooperation with the Pentagon under the Project Maven program. This is reported by Gizmodo with reference to sources in Google.
Within the framework of Project Maven Google develops for the American military an artificial intelligence that could analyze video from drones and automatically separate non-living objects from people.
The employees of Google who decided to quit stated about unacceptability of cooperation with the Pentagon. They believe that incorrect analysis of video from drones can be deadly, and that such an activity should be dealt with by people, not by algorithms. In addition, according to them, Google should not work on military projects at all.
This is the first known mass dismissal from Google related to the company's business solutions, notes the Gizmodo resource.
