Hubble telescope transferred to safe mode

NASA forced the Hubble Space Telescope into a safe mode of operation. The reason is the failure of the orientation system. It is reported that problems arose with one of the gyroscopes.

In total, six gyroscopes are installed on board the Hubble. They are used as part of the guidance system. The device can function normally without one, two or even three gyroscopes.

Alas, as reported, only two gyroscopes are currently in full working condition. NASA specialists are looking for possible solutions to the problem, but so far the Hubble is in safe mode.

It should be noted that the telescope can function with one working gyroscope, but its capabilities will be limited.
