The Chinese manufacturer of drones Ehang completed the testing of the stand-alone Ehang 184 quadrupter. During the demonstration flights, the vehicle carried several passengers, among them the Ehang leadership and the Guangzhou authorities.
During the tests, which lasted several months, Ehang 184 performed 1000 test flights. Engineers checked the operation of the copter in various weather conditions: heat, strong fog and hypothetical hurricane wind moving at a speed of more than 300 kilometers per hour.
Ehang intends to use drones for aerotax service inside large cities. The fully electric "184" is able to stay in the air for up to 23 minutes, independently route and fly around obstacles. In case of an abnormal situation, the passenger can take control of the drones.
While the company has permission to fly to Dubai, now they have to deal with the requirements of transport regulators of other countries.
